Professional Background

Jaime Cano was born in Madrid. At age 8 he began studying music, taking piano and reading lessons with several private teachers.

At age 12 he moved to Belgium, where his fascination with the guitar started, beginning the study of this instrument in the Academie de Musique d'Uccle (Brussels), and also continuing with the study of music theory and reading.

At 18 he returned to Madrid, where he began studying jazz and modern guitar at the Taller de Músicos, and also in private lessons with teachers such as Antonio Saiz or Santiago de la Muela.

Between the years of 1997 and 2000 he moved to Boston (USA) where he studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music majoring in Jazz Composition. Some of his teachers at that time include Mark White, Brett Willmott, Jim Kelly or Ken Pulling.

Since his return to Spain he has been working extensively as a musician and instructor (with now over 10 years experience), teaching guitar, harmony, arranging, improvisation and composition to many students in the area of Madrid. He continues to offer performances in various musical ensembles (Sahara Blues, Rocio Merino,  etc.) and collaborating with musicians of various styles (such as Antonio Acero).

Apart from composing and arranging music for several types of ensembles, he has also composed the music and programed the sound effects for various mobile applications, such as "Sky Scramble".
